Yves Bonnet

Yves Bonnet is a French politician who was born on November 20, 1935 in Chartres, Eure-et-Loir.

He served as the sub-prefect of Cherbourg (1977-1978), Arles (1975), Dunkirk (1979-1981) and as the prefect of Mayotte (1982). Then, he was appointed head of the Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DST) (1982-1985), after which he served as prefect of Finistère (1986), the Guadeloupe (1986), Marne, and Champagne-Ardenne (1987).

Bonnet began his political career in Cherbourg in The Union for French Democracy (UDF), and became an MP for Manche from 1993 till 1997, in addition to chairing the Finance and General Administration Commission.

Bonnet is internationally renowned for his expertise in intelligence and strategic issues on terrorism. He is the founding director of the International Center for Research and Study on Terrorism and Aide to Victims of Terrorism (CIRET-AVT). He is also a consultant to several French and foreign media outlets on the issues of international security, terrorism, the Arab world, and Iran.

He is also the author of a number of books that range between investigation documents and spy novels.
